Pearl is easily our favorite neighbor! She loves holding the little Tilapia, munching on lettuce, and feeding the big fish! 🌱🐟 Sometimes we forget how magical and exciting this place is, and it always brightens our day to see kids excited about vegetables and farming!
This is one of my favorite pictures! I’m not exactly sure why, but something about the colors in this sea of baby Red Bok Choy just seems so right! Am I alone here??
We grow 500 pounds of lettuce every week for Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) - even though growing food is tough work, it’s so rewarding to know that some of our greens are going to local school cafeterias. #feedthefuture
We’re so proud to be Tucson’s first source of #sustainableseafood through the #seafoodwatch program in Monterey Bay. This fish was delivered to @agustinkitchen check out their page to see the finished dish!
Within a couple weeks these baby romaine plants will look more like the mature lettuce behind them. #theygrowupsofast 🌱👩🏻🌾🐟💧
We are always experimenting with new varieties of greens, check out this beautiful neon green leaf lettuce! . . . . . (For all the plant people, we normally use a pelleted Green leaf lettuce seed, but this version was non-pelleted, causing way more than 1 plant to be grown out of each hole. My guess is that our normal nutrient/fertilizer levels were not enough for this volume plants, which probably caused the light green “neon” color. What do you think?)
We’re loving this amazing drone tour of our greenhouse. We have about 10,000 sq feet of greenhouse in the ❤️ of Tucson, AZ which means our food travels less than 3 miles to reach each customer. On a side note, how beautiful is Tucson?!! Seriously, the Catalina mountains are perfection... 😍 #sonorandesert #catalinas #foodtransparency #foodmiles

We had a lot of fun doing the research and development of this dish which highlighted what Tucson was and is now becoming. Also a very special thank you to @merchantsgarden for bringing sustainable seafood to the desert and demonstrating what modern farming can become.
We had some people from the Reid Park Zoo visit the greenhouse! We are working on getting Lions, Polar Bears, and Otters live Tilapia 🐟 to catch, so that they can have activities that simulate how they would hunt in the wild! Some Elephants will also get their favorite snack, some fresh greens. Is it just me, or is that the coolest thing ever!?! 🦁🐯🐻🐘🐟🌱
